Feng Shui Taboos for Stairs

Feng Shui Taboos for Stairs

Stairs are not only an important passage connecting the upper and lower floors but also a place for receiving and sending qi in terms of Feng Shui. Therefore, there are many considerations in the setting of stairs.

  1. Whether outdoors or indoors, there should be an appropriate space, known as the Mingtang, between the stairs and the main door to lock in the qi of the residence.
  1. It is advisable to have a threshold at the main door to prevent the qi of the residence from being carried away when people go down the stairs.
  1. In a duplex residence, when entering the door, the stairway entrance should not directly face the main door. If there is such a conflict, a screen should be set up for shielding.
  1. Try not to make spiral stairs, as they are likely to cause accidental injuries.
  1. The area under the stairs should be kept clean and tidy. Do not place sundries, set up a water pool, or use it as a kitchen, bedroom, or the location for a shrine.
  1. The stairs should not be set in the center of the residence. Otherwise, it will bring various disputes in the family and lead to disharmony between husband and wife. Also, it is not suitable to be set at the exact rear of the residence. It is advisable to be set in a less conspicuous place on the side of the residence.
