Feng Shui Taboos for Balcony

Feng Shui Taboos for Balcony

The balcony is the most open and spacious area of a residence, being closest to nature. According to Feng Shui, the balcony absorbs sunlight, air, and rain from outside the house, serving as a place for qi (energy) intake of the residence. Therefore, certain principles must be followed when arranging the balcony.

  1. Never convert the balcony into a kitchen, toilet, or bathroom.
  1. If the balcony of the living room is demolished to connect with the living room, it is not advisable to place a sofa in the balcony area.
  1. If the balcony in a room is demolished to connect with the bedroom, it is not appropriate to place a bed in the balcony area.
  1. The balcony door in a room should not face the room door or the head of the bed.
  1. Do not pile up sundries on the balcony, and it is even more inappropriate to place incomplete or damaged items.
  1. It is taboo to place large and heavy objects, as they may block the qi flow of the residence.
  1. It is not advisable to plant too many plants and flowers, as an excessive amount may lead to an overly yin environment. Also, make sure there are no withered branches or leaves on the plants.
  1. Do not stack extra flowerpots, otherwise, it is believed that money lent to others may not be retrievable.
