Flowers, plants, and trees are an important part of Feng Shui. Besides having functions such as dust absorption, sand prevention, and environmental beautification, they also play roles in gathering qi, sheltering from wind, concealing forms, and ventilating. Therefore, there are some considerations in their planting and placement.

- Big trees should not block the main gate, and flower troughs, flowerpots, etc. should not be directly aligned with the main gate in a straight line.
- The trees in front of the door and outside the windows should be elegant and stately, without being humpbacked, bloated, hollow, or withered.
- It is not advisable to have trees too close to the door or window. The tree shade should not block all the light and ventilation. It is most taboo to have huge trees with thick shade in the south blocking the sunlight.
- There should be no plants climbing and spreading throughout the entire residence.
- Flowers, plants, and trees should not be too close to the house wall.
- If tree branches extend too far outside the house, descendants are likely to leave their hometown. Pruning should be done in a timely manner.
- There should not be too many fruit trees. Otherwise, they will absorb the qi of the land and damage the fortune of the residence.
